Why do celebs insist on pushing their smells on the rest of us?

Get a room!

Get a room!

Remember back in the 80s when things were simpler and perfume choices were pretty much Love’s Baby Soft, Designer Imposters and Coty Wild Musk?  Yeah, well, sadly those days are long gone.  Now we have annoying celebrities “making” perfumes and throwing big marketing campaigns behind them…all for a bottle of scented water.  And let’s be honest, wouldn’t all their “signature scents” smell the same: like money?

While everything else in September was a disaster, it appeared to be a big month for the aroma industry, as well as Macy’s in NYC, who continues to enable the celebs with awkward photo ops, while stacks of fans clamor for a glimpse and dig through their purses for the last of their allowance to pick up a bottle.

Anyway, listed below are some of the (in)famous kids that launched a fragrance in September, and as you can see it is highly addictive:

Posh & David Beckham–they have 9 different perfumes/colognes in their line!  These guys take the branding thing very seriously don’t they.

Paris Hilton–she has 8 fragrances, one for each dog she’s misplaced I’m sure.  Oh, and by the way, I’m not linking her on purpose.

JLo–she has 5 fragrances, I think…well, at least she’s making something these days.

Christina Aguilera–she’s the newbie, from what I can tell she just launched her first fragrance…guess she let the peer pressure get to her.

[…] Well, it’s a sad day for the celebrity-turned-designer world: pop-singer and sometimes actress Mandy Moore has shut down her clothing line, Mblem (get it? so clev-ah!). That’s unfortunate and all, but here’s the other news: MANDY MOORE HAD A CLOTHING LINE?! I had no idea! Where the heck have I been? Apparently too busy smelling the Beckham’s alluring perfumes. […]
